Payment Assistance

At Zeeland BPW, we understand that financial hardships can make it difficult to keep up with essential services (or utility bills). Assistance may be available to help those in need.

What to do if you fall behind

We want our customers to know that we will do everything we can to prevent shut-offs, including working with customers to develop a payment schedule. Customers who fall behind on their bills should contact one of our Customer Relationship Specialists at 616-772-6212. Our team will be happy to work with you on a payment plan.

Financial Assistance Options

If you are facing shut-off and are in need of financial assistance, please reach out to the Community Action Agency right away. Through our partnership with CAA, even those up to 250% of the current poverty level are eligible to receive payment assistance to avoid shut-off.

You might be surprised to know that you could be eligible for assistance. Take a look at the chart below to see the 2023 household income qualifications:

You can see if you qualify for assistance by calling the Community Action Agency during business hours at (616) 393-4433 or by filling out this form 24/7. Be sure to have your most recent utility bill handy.

After you call or fill out the form, one of their representatives will get back to you as soon as possible, often within 1-business day. Please note that they will not be able to provide funds from the form, there will be a short follow-up process.

Additional local agencies are listed below:

Additional Programs

ZBPW Budget Program

During the months of November and December, customers can sign up for a budget plan. This ensures your monthly bill is consistent throughout the year so you have a set amount to plan for. Note: Accounts must be at least one year old and paid up to date in order to enroll.

Utility and/Or Weatherization Assistance

See if you are eligible for the Utility and Weatherization Assistance program through Ottawa County Community Action Agency. By participating, you can make your home more efficient, get tips to lower your bills, and more.
